Apple Major Competitors: Apple – Could Competitor Delay Open Up Door?

Apple Major Competitors: Although Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is undeniably one of the major players in the smartphone game, it is not the only manufacturer that is trying to increase market share and show consumers why it is top dog.

Apple Inc. (AAPL) to be Added to Several WisdomTree ETFsAs of right now, Samsung is by far Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s biggest competitor. The two companies continue to slug it out for a larger share of the smartphone market, both on US soil as well as overseas. And of course, the two companies have been trading barbs in courtrooms all over the world as well.

With all that in mind, it is only natural for the two tech titans to look for any potential opening to seize an opportunity for the lead in this space.

Is it possible that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has found its opportunity with the release of the Samsung Galaxy S4 being delayed?

Maybe, maybe not. However, JMP Securities Managing Director Alex Gauna recently discussed this possibility, as well as other details related to both companies, with Emily Chang on a segment of Bloomberg Television’s “Bloomberg West.”

Chang starts the interview by asking Gauna to discuss Samsung’s delay, including what the holdup is, how long it could take, and what it means to the industry as a whole:

“And if in fact it is only a delay of only a couple of weeks or a few weeks, it is really trivial and insignificant in the grand scheme of things. Samsung is well ahead of any peak sales season, and so I think as long as it does come out, and all of the indications from the supplier channel is that it will. I haven’t heard anything overly ominous in terms of it being delayed indefinitely and so I do think it comes. It is well ahead of the iPhone 5S or whatever the next version iPhone is, and I think that does give Samsung the near term advantage.”

When you look at this information shared by Gauna, a few questions come to mind.

First and foremost, what is the hold up with the release of the Galaxy S4? While he does not believe it to be anything that will hold the company back over the long term, it is an important detail. On top of this, what would happen if the release gets pushed back even further? Could this give Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) an advantage?
