Yesterday, we took a closer look at the Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) connected car and what this means to the future of the Cupertino based company as well as the auto industry as a whole. Here is the entire piece if you want to check it out.

There is no denying the good intentions of Apple. Bringing its technology to the automotive industry is a big deal for both the company itself as well as the many car manufacturers that are going to get involved. On top of that, this is something that many consumers are going to be excited about.

So, what is the problem? As noted by Automotive News, quoting Thilo Koslowski, a vehicle communications technology analyst at research firm Gartner Inc., this will create a challenge for auto companies “who want to keep up with the latest connected-vehicle technologies but still control the overall experience with their own operating systems.”

Apple Inc (AAPL)With this in mind, there are sure to be companies that jump on board and fall in love with everything that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has to offer. At the same time, there are going to be automakers that are apprehensive about handing over the reigns to Cupertino and taking a step to the side in terms of controlling their own operating systems.

This is going to make things in the auto industry very interesting, very soon. After all, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has plans on pushing its connected car technology to the public by 2014.

Koslowski added more information:

“That’s where I see some potential tension going forward. That’s going to be an interesting balancing act in the automotive industry — to attract partners like Apple, but at the same time still hang onto that overall customer experience. If that’s being given away to somebody like Apple, then it won’t be much left for the automotive industry to succeed in the connected-vehicle space.”

Only time will tell which companies decide to actually move forward with an Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) partnership. Along with this, we will have to keep a close eye on the finer details of any partnership including the benefits to each side.

Let’s put it this way: Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is not going away anytime soon when it comes to the connected car space. They just arrived and over the next year things are really going to get exciting.
