An Interesting Microsoft Corporation (MSFT) Xbox One Pricing Tidbit

Many people are looking forward to the day in which they can get their hands on a Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) Xbox One. Fortunately for this large group, the day is coming soon. The game console is expected to be launched in November, and when this happens you can expect consumers from all over the world to get in on the action (see this piece for even more launch information).

While many are paying close attention to what the actual console will sell for, others have turned their attention to the games. According to Official Xbox Magazine, some prices for UK first-party games have been released.

At this point, we don’t really know what to expect because the launch of the Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) Xbox One is still a few months out. However, here is what has been shared:

“Microsoft has confirmed recommended retail pricing for Xbox One games in the UK. The manufacturer’s online store currently has Ryse, Dead Rising 3, Forza Motorsport 5 and Kinect Sport Rivals down at £49.99 – more or less in line with the RRP for Xbox 360 titles.”

The last part of that quote is most important, as it shows that prices are pretty much in line with the recommended retail pricing of Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) Xbox 360 games. Of course, the same article goes on to add some more information about the price:

“If £50 sounds a bit steep, that’s probably because you’re used to buying games at a retailer discount – Xbox One games will undergo the same whittling-down process once they’re in the hands of those who sell them. Eventually, anyway. This being the start of a console generation, Amazon, Shopto and so forth may wish to price games nearer the RRP for the moment. First-party Xbox One games carry an initial pricepoint of $59.99 in the US.”

Upfront, you can expect to pay closer to the recommended retail price. Over time, the cost will begin to decline, which is what most consumers have come to expect over the years.

The Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) Xbox One game console is highly anticipated. Whether or not it is as popular as the Xbox 360 is yet to be seen, but there is no reason to believe it will flop. With plenty of new features and an audience that is dying to see what the system can do, expect early sales to be robust.
