5. Equinor ASA (NYSE:EQNR)

Stavanger, Norway-based Equinor ASA (NYSE:EQNR), formerly known as Statoil, is an international energy company engaged in exploration, development and production of oil and gas, as well as wind and solar power. With a history dating back to 1972, the company employs more than 21,000 personnel across 26 countries.

The renewable energy portfolio of Equinor ASA (NYSE:EQNR) included solar and offshore wind projects with installed capacity of 0.7 GW, as of 2021. The company intends to grow its installed renewables capacity to 12-16 GW by the end of the decade, with offshore wind accounting for two-thirds of this capacity.

On November 2, Equinor ASA (NYSE:EQNR) announced that it has agreed to acquire BeGreen, a leading solar project developer in North-West Europe. BeGreen has a project pipeline in early to medium stages of maturity of over 6 GW in Denmark, Sweden and Poland.
