Most of the companies who own the biggest gas station chains in the U.S. are also among the biggest oil and gas companies in the world and BP p.l.c. (NYSE:BP) is no exception. The British giant is also one of the most infamous companies operating globally, responsible for over 1.5% of global industrial greenhouse gas emissions and repsonsible for many oil spill disasters, including the biggest oil spill disaster in history known as the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill in 2010, which cost the company over $60 billion and yet barely made in a company with revenues of over $164 billion.

The company also employs more than 14,000 people in the U.S. and maintains a strong presence in the state of Wisconsin, which comprises over a tenth of all gas stations operated by the company in the U.S.
