5 Biggest Stadiums in the World

3. Michigan Stadium

Total capacity of the stadium: 107,601

The biggest stadium in the United States, the Michigan Stadium is the University of Michigan’s football stadium and despite its capacity being 107,601, it has still hosted crowds of around 115,000. The stadium is nearly a century old, having been built in 1927 at a cost of $950,000 at the time which would be equal to $11.6 million in 2020. Since 1975, every home game in the stadium has drawn more than 100,000 people to the stadium, a run of more than 30 games now. The reason that the football stadium can host more people than its official capacity is due to footings being used in the manufacture of the stadium.
