The Central African Republic’s crisis has excessively affected its women. As stated by the WPS, in the CAR, women often only complete three years of education. Less than 9% of them are represented in the municipal parliament. Nevertheless, 1 in 5 women in Central Africa continue to experience abuse from a close relationship. Due to harmful gender norms such as early marriage, 61% of married women were already in a relationship when they turned eighteen.
