Estimates by McKinsey and Company conclude that North America and Asia are expected to blossom into the largest beauty markets across the globe in the coming future. Asia is anticipated to undergo a 7% year-over-year growth between 2022 and 2027, while North America is expected to expand by 6% year-over-year in the same forecast period. The Middle East and Africa are also estimated to rise to the surface as significant regions in the industry in the coming decades, undergoing a 12% year-over-year anticipated growth rate. Thus, the beauty industry has a promising global outlook, reflecting its potential for expansion and growth.

Skincare is the largest industry category, accounting for 44% of the market. It grew 6% in 2023, and this growth was attributed mainly to price hikes in Latin America, Africa, and the Middle East. Price increases in North America and Europe, albeit less, also drove this growth.

While fragrance represents the smallest beauty category at just 17% of the market, it underwent the highest growth in 2023, at 14%. In contrast, the fragrance industry has a total market share of 17% in North America and 27% in Europe. McKinsey expects price growth to surpass volume growth in fragrance, and the expansion of the luxury price tier is anticipated to support this growth.
