20 Countries that Produce the Most Motor Vehicles in 2023

In this article, we are going to discuss the 20 countries that produce the most motor vehicles in 2023. You can skip our detailed analysis of the global automotive industry, the largest auto manufacturer in the world, and the rise of autonomous vehicles, and go directly to 5 Countries that Produce the Most Motor Vehicles in 2023

The automobile manufacturing sector is one of the largest industries worldwide. Often, a country’s automotive sector is a reflection of its broader economic condition. This industry comprises various sectors, including production, sales, and marketing, besides demanding significant resources from other supply chains, such as oil, steel, plastics, and rubber. Additionally, it also plays a vital role in developing roads, fuel stations, and transportation systems, which contribute to the overall growth of the economy.

Hence, very often, large auto production plants are surrounded by other manufacturing facilities, like steel, glass, components etc., forming clusters that lead to new municipalities. The cities of Detroit and Guangzhou are good examples of how such clusters can form into municipalities.

Global Automotive Industry:

As we mentioned in our article – 15 Most Profitable Car Companies in the World – the automotive sector contributes around 3% to the global GDP and this share is even higher in emerging markets like India and China, where the sector’s contribution to the national GDP is up to 7%. It affects every aspect of daily life and is an important source of employment – approximately 5% of the global labor force is directly or indirectly employed in the auto sector.

According to OICA, around 85 million motor vehicles were produced globally in 2022, an increase of 6% from the previous year. The easing of Covid-19 restrictions globally boosted automobile sales, as consumers who had put off purchases during lockdowns finally started buying again, which has helped outweigh even the effects of the semiconductor shortage.

The current global market for automotive manufacturing was valued at $2.9 trillion last year, and it is currently growing at a CAGR of 3.1% following several years of decline where the market dropped by 0.6% between 2017 and 2022. Currently, the automotive manufacturing industry is ranked first out of all global manufacturing industries in terms of market size.

Largest Auto Manufacturer in the World

With total worldwide sales of 10.48 million vehicles last year, the Toyota Motor Corporation (NYSE:TM) is the largest auto company in the world. The Japanese giant boasted a revenue of $266.6 billion in 2022, with a net profit of $17.59 billion. The company’s sales of industrial equipment, particularly forklifts, also boomed 25% to $12.9 billion. One of the reasons Toyota has had such success with its vehicles is that the company has long been known for producing reliable, easy, and inexpensive-to-fix products, which hasn’t changed over the years.

Toyota Motor Corporation (NYSE:TM) also made headlines in 2021 when it overtook General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) for the first time ever as the Top-Selling Car Company in the United States. The Japanese automaker, which for decades, has worked to expand its presence in the U.S., sold a total of 2.3 million vehicles in the country’s market, against GM’s sales of 2.2 million. Prior to this, the General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) had been the top auto seller in the U.S. since 1931.

Toyota Motor Corporation (NYSE:TM) had largely benefited from its decision to stockpile computer chips, which are used in a vast array of vehicle electronics. It bet earlier than most other car manufacturers on a recovering U.S. car market and cut parts and production orders less sharply than rivals, making it better prepared for an eventual surge in consumer demand.

However, the status quo was restored in 2022 when the General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) regained its top spot, with its brands selling 2.27 million vehicles in the American market, against Toyota Motor Corporation (NYSE:TM)’s 2.1 million units.

The Rise of Autonomous Vehicles

Autonomous driving vehicles, also known as self-driving cars, have been a topic of great fascination and innovation in the automotive industry in recent years. Today’s autonomous vehicles use a combination of forward-facing cameras and radar systems that collect relevant information about road conditions for further processing. These systems can learn to detect, classify, and assign ‘weights’ to road obstacles, thereby giving the vehicle’s processors enough information to choose the path of least resistance.

One of the primary advantages of autonomous vehicles is their potential to significantly reduce human error, which is a leading cause of accidents. With their advanced perception systems and real-time decision-making capabilities, self-driving cars can react faster and more accurately, potentially saving thousands of lives each year. Another benefit of autonomous driving technology is increased mobility for people who are unable to drive due to age, disability, or other reasons. Autonomous driving vehicles could also improve traffic flow and reduce congestion, as they can communicate with other vehicles and adjust their speeds and routes to avoid traffic.

Although there is still a lot of skepticism around AV and in 2022 alone, AV investments went down nearly 60% YoY, Elon Musk still remains a hardcore supporter of full self-driving (FSD) vehicles, believing that FSD could one day account for most of Tesla, Inc. (NASDAQ:TSLA)’s value and give it a cushion rivals lack as they try to turn their EV operations profitable. As a result, Tesla, Inc. (NASDAQ:TSLA) plans to spend over $1 billion through next year on Dojo, its supercomputer to train AI models for autonomous cars, which it said would go into production in July this year. Speaking at the 2023 World Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai in July, Musk said:

“In terms of where Tesla is at this stage, I think we are very close to achieving full self-driving without human supervision. This is only speculation, but I think we’ll achieve full self-driving, maybe what you would call (level) four or five, I think later this year.”

Tesla, Inc. (NASDAQ:TSLA) shares have risen by 96.19% this year, bouncing back from a drop of 65% in 2018, driven by a rush for technology and growth stocks, with fears of recession easing. TSLA sits among the 12 Best Aggressive Growth Stocks to Buy According to Hedge Funds

AI, Tariffs, Nuclear Power: One Undervalued Stock Connects ALL the Dots (Before It Explodes!)

Artificial intelligence is the greatest investment opportunity of our lifetime. The time to invest in groundbreaking AI is now, and this stock is a steal!

AI is eating the world—and the machines behind it are ravenous.

Each ChatGPT query, each model update, each robotic breakthrough consumes massive amounts of energy. In fact, AI is already pushing global power grids to the brink.

Wall Street is pouring hundreds of billions into artificial intelligence—training smarter chatbots, automating industries, and building the digital future. But there’s one urgent question few are asking:

Where will all of that energy come from?

AI is the most electricity-hungry technology ever invented. Each data center powering large language models like ChatGPT consumes as much energy as a small city. And it’s about to get worse.

Even Sam Altman, the founder of OpenAI, issued a stark warning:

“The future of AI depends on an energy breakthrough.”

Elon Musk was even more blunt:

“AI will run out of electricity by next year.”

As the world chases faster, smarter machines, a hidden crisis is emerging behind the scenes. Power grids are strained. Electricity prices are rising. Utilities are scrambling to expand capacity.

And that’s where the real opportunity lies…

One little-known company—almost entirely overlooked by most AI investors—could be the ultimate backdoor play. It’s not a chipmaker. It’s not a cloud platform. But it might be the most important AI stock in the US owns critical energy infrastructure assets positioned to feed the coming AI energy spike.

As demand from AI data centers explodes, this company is gearing up to profit from the most valuable commodity in the digital age: electricity.

The “Toll Booth” Operator of the AI Energy Boom

  • It owns critical nuclear energy infrastructure assets, positioning it at the heart of America’s next-generation power strategy.
  • It’s one of the only global companies capable of executing large-scale, complex EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) projects across oil, gas, renewable fuels, and industrial infrastructure.
  • It plays a pivotal role in U.S. LNG exportation—a sector about to explode under President Trump’s renewed “America First” energy doctrine.

Trump has made it clear: Europe and U.S. allies must buy American LNG.

And our company sits in the toll booth—collecting fees on every drop exported.

But that’s not all…

As Trump’s proposed tariffs push American manufacturers to bring their operations back home, this company will be first in line to rebuild, retrofit, and reengineer those facilities.

AI. Energy. Tariffs. Onshoring. This One Company Ties It All Together.

While the world is distracted by flashy AI tickers, a few smart investors are quietly scooping up shares of the one company powering it all from behind the scenes.

AI needs energy. Energy needs infrastructure.

And infrastructure needs a builder with experience, scale, and execution.

This company has its finger in every pie—and Wall Street is just starting to notice.

Wall Street is noticing this company also because it is quietly riding all of these tailwinds—without the sky-high valuation.

While most energy and utility firms are buried under mountains of debt and coughing up hefty interest payments just to appease bondholders…

This company is completely debt-free.

In fact, it’s sitting on a war chest of cash—equal to nearly one-third of its entire market cap.

It also owns a huge equity stake in another red-hot AI play, giving investors indirect exposure to multiple AI growth engines without paying a premium.

And here’s what the smart money has started whispering…

The Hedge Fund Secret That’s Starting to Leak Out

This stock is so off-the-radar, so absurdly undervalued, that some of the most secretive hedge fund managers in the world have begun pitching it at closed-door investment summits.

They’re sharing it quietly, away from the cameras, to rooms full of ultra-wealthy clients.

Why? Because excluding cash and investments, this company is trading at less than 7 times earnings.

And that’s for a business tied to:

  • The AI infrastructure supercycle
  • The onshoring boom driven by Trump-era tariffs
  • A surge in U.S. LNG exports
  • And a unique footprint in nuclear energy—the future of clean, reliable power

You simply won’t find another AI and energy stock this cheap… with this much upside.

This isn’t a hype stock. It’s not riding on hope.

It’s delivering real cash flows, owns critical infrastructure, and holds stakes in other major growth stories.

This is your chance to get in before the rockets take off!

Disruption is the New Name of the Game: Let’s face it, complacency breeds stagnation.

AI is the ultimate disruptor, and it’s shaking the foundations of traditional industries.
