9. Copenhagen, Denmark

In 2022, Denmark was ranked sixth among the world’s most peaceful countries. According to research by the Statista Research Department, since 2015, the number of recorded sexual offenses in Denmark has climbed considerably. In that year, less than 3,000 sexual offenses were registered, a figure that will rise to more than 9,500 by 2022.  Following in the footsteps of neighboring Sweden, the Danish parliament enacted a law on sexual consent in December 2020.

8. Amsterdam, Netherlands

According to a study in the Netherlands, 65.8% of female self-employed sex workers (FSW) and 61.6% of male self-employed sex workers (MSW) have sex with partners of the opposite sex at work, while 63.3% of FSW and 64.5% of MSW have sex with partners of the opposite sex in their private lives. STI positivity was not extremely high among self-employed sex workers. However, given the limited compliance with condom usage during sex work, STI prevention initiatives remain critical.
