Chu reported that Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) has released a messenger app for the web. Messenger app has become a big standalone platform for Facebook Inc on the mobiles. Acquisition of Whatsapp messenger also help Facebook Inc in monetizing the mobile based messaging services. But, consumers who use Facebook Inc from PC’s was using the standard chat window in the Facebook platform for messaging.

In order to give these desktop users a brand new experience Facebook Inc has come up with this messenger app for the web, which works very similar to mobile messenger, as a standalone messaging platform.

Chu added that the messenger app for desktops does have the newsfeeds as in mobile messenger app. He pointed out that this app for PC’s is only available in English at the moment at messenger.com. He said that more languages will be rolled out with the app in the next few weeks.

Chu mentioned that chat window in the Facebook Inc platform will still be available for users to send messages. He added that the bottom line is Facebook Inc trying to reach out to PC users as well in addition to the mobile users.

“Facebook has released a messenger app for the web and like the mobile version the new messenger app is a standalone messaging platform that doesn’t come with a user’s newsfeed or other services. Right now, it’s only available in English language version at messenger.com. But more languages are expected to be rolled out in the coming weeks and don’t worry if you are a fan of Facebook chat. That service will still be available through the main Facebook page. The bottom line, Facebook is reaching out to PC users who want to message all their friends,” Chu reported.

Facebook Inc has dropped nearly 1% since Tuesday and is currently trading around the $82 mark which many people consider as the key level for Facebook Inc stock.
