Value Investing Congress 2013: Small-Cap ‘Needles in a Haystack’ From Guy Gottfried

Value Investing Congress 2013: We were at the VIC this week, and a few presentations caught our eye. We’ve already discussed Daniel W. Lawrence’s presentation on chemical company Ashland, and we’ve shared that Donald Yacktman thinks Apple isn’t as cheap as it looks. Guy Gottfried’s presentation on small-cap value plays is another one we enjoyed. Gottfried is someone who we’ve covered in the past and his Rational Investment Group is on our radar.

SupremexLogo.jpgIn his slideshow from 2013, titled “Needles in a Haystack: More Small Cap Values,” Gottfried details his theses on two Canada-listed small-caps: Supremex Inc (TSE:SXP) and Glentel Inc. (TSE:GLN).

The latter is a wireless communications company that is cheap, has a solid dividend, and massive growth potential due to “new relationships not yet contributing to results,” according to Gottfried. Supremex, on the other hand, is an envelope manufacturer that has a dominant market presence in Canada and the potential to double its dividend.
