We would like to present you with a list we have compiled of the top 10 universities in the world in the year 2013.

The schools in our  top universities in the world in 2013 were ranked according to the statistics issued by the tenth World University Rankings, published by Times Higher Education, a British magazine in charge with evaluating the higher education market. For the third year in a row, the California Institute of Technology, a school with just 2,200 students, ranks as number one in the world. Its faculty staff consists of only 300 professors and approximately 600 researchers, but combined, they have won a total of 31 Nobel Prizes, more than any other faculty in the world. The number one spot was previously held by Harvard University, which ranked 2 in 2013.

The methodology used for ranking the schools did not focus on entry requirements, post-graduation salaries, or graduation rates. Instead, Times Higher Education focused on the international reputation of the schools and on global scholarships. Research and innovation, productivity, and research excellence were the main indicators taken into account.

In terms of higher education, US schools have fared extremely well this year. Out of the top ten schools in the world, seven are located in the United States. The other 3 are from the United Kingdom.
