Although it could have been worse, First Solar, Inc. (NASDAQ:FSLR) and SunPower Corporation (NASDAQ:SPWR) fell 1.29% and 2.39% from Monday through Friday. Both fell due to the election result, as Hillary Clinton would likely have been far more favorable for the renewable energy sector than Trump will be. Given that Trump is protectionist, there is potential for U.S. solar demand to somewhat benefit if certain dominoes fall the right way, however. SunPower also showed some volatility after reporting third quarter EPS of $0.68 on revenue of $770.1 million. The results beat analyst estimates by $0.30 per share for the bottom line and missed the consensus by $7.84 million for the top-line. 19 and 30 top funds were long SunPower Corporation (NASDAQ:SPWR) and First Solar, Inc. (NASDAQ:FSLR) at the end of June.
