While nobody knows what the future holds, especially with uncertainty in the United States, this is not slowing the company down in the slightest. Instead, CEO Elon Musk and his team are taking its products to many other parts of the world.

The company recently announced that it has “received hundreds of orders for its new Model S sedan, enough to double the number of electric cars on the roads of Hong Kong.”

This may not be a huge order for Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) in the grand scheme of things, however, it goes a long way in showing that the company is being taken seriously in other parts of the world.

In Hong Kong, this one order is going to double the number of electric cars on the road. This is a huge change for the city, and one that is sure to help as far as its pollution problems are concerned.

In the article, Kenneth Lui, Hong Kong sales manager for Tesla, was quoted as saying the following:

“Our number is over all electric cars in Hong Kong combined.”

The Model S is not expected to go on sale in Hong Kong until this winter, but until then it is safe to say that the people of the area are going to relish the excitement of this announcement.

At this time, prices of the vehicle have yet to be released but will be coming forth at some point over the next couple of months, according to Lui.

Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) CEO Elon Musk is expecting big things from the Model S in 2013, with sales projected to reach roughly 21,000 units. This will be aided by shipments to Asia and Europe during the second half of the year.
