Tesla Google Partnership: Could Technology Change This Company For The Better?

Tesla Google Partnership: There is no denying the fact that Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) is always on the cutting edge in terms of the advancement of technology. However, it appears that the electric car maker is hoping for even bigger things in the near future.

As we reported earlier today, Tesla is in talks with Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) regarding a partnership revolving around the search engine giant’s driverless technology.

Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ: TSLA)This partnership would favor both companies, as Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) is always looking for new and innovative ways to make their vehicles unique. And it goes without saying that Google would welcome the partnership, especially since its founding partners invested in Tesla in its earlier days.

While this sounds like a great idea, there is a lot standing between Tesla and Google when it comes to bringing driverless technology to the roads.

As you can imagine, a story like this is going to get a lot of attention. For this reason, Bloomberg Television’s “In The Loop” recently covered the potential partnership in greater detail.

Below is what Bloomberg’s Jamie Butters had to say about Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) when asked about when consumers will be able to buy a vehicle from the company that drives itself:

“Well, not any time real soon, right. Not probably during the Obama presidency but maybe during the next president. Google has been really aggressive on this, and they are talking about maybe being able to have a car ready for market in as little as five years. That may be ambitious as most of the big car companies are talking about something maybe within 10 years, and maybe not as fully self driving as Google is talking about, but it’s coming sooner than you would think.”

As you can see, Butters is optimistic that Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) and Google have big things in the works. It may not happen as quickly as Google would like, but things are moving in the right direction.

He added the following when asked about the Tesla Model S:

“It is such a sleek, futuristic looking car and then you think about the self driving, but it really depends on how that plays out. Google is talking about almost a robot chauffeur, so you can just get it…”

If Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) is able to strike a partnership with Google, it could mean bigger things for both companies in the next five to ten years.
