Apple Inc. (AAPL): Has Samsung Electronics Continued In Its Copying Ways?

That Samsung Electronics has been “inspired” by some Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL), designs is not entirely new, but it seems that the South Korean consumer electronics giant is at it again, this time by being influenced by an advertisement for the Apple Watch.

In a discussion on Bloomberg Surveillance, Olivia Sterns notes that an Apple’s, which owns one of the most profitable businesses ever, ad for the Apple Watch released in March on YouTube looks a lot like a recent advertisement for the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge.

“Samsung released their latest ad for the Galaxy S6 Edge but it looks a little bit familiar. In April, Apple made a commercial for its Gold Edition Apple Watch. Both have images of liquid metal pouring and assembly lines making the products. I mean, imitation is the highest form of flattery,” Sterns tells her colleagues.

Watching the ads, however, the two are only alike if one breaks it down to what is happening in the scenes such as how Sterns did. Both feature molten metal being cast and they both feature assembly lines.

However, while the Apple ad focuses on the unique metal formulation to achieve the durable rose and yellow gold casings of the Apple Watch Edition, the Samsung ad focuses on the metal frame of the Galaxy S6 Edge as well as its unique curved glass front and screen.

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) watch ad in question can be found here while the Samsung ad in question can be found here.

Sterns notes, however, that she found the comparison on Business Insider.

Aside from talking about the possible copying of advertisements by the South Korean rival of the Cupertino, California-based iPhone maker, Sterns and her colleagues at Bloomberg also discussed how the first espresso has been brewed on the International Space Station. The machine has been aptly-named the “I.S.S.presso machine,” she notes.
