Verizon Blackberry Phones: Verizon CEO Talks BlackBerry

Verizon Blackberry Phones: Most people know Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ) as one of the top wireless carriers in the United States. With this in mind, it is important to note that the company offers a variety of smartphones to subscribers, including those from Research In Motion Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) BlackBerry.

From Verizon’s point of view, it makes good sense for the company to continue providing its customers with a wide range of devices. This way, they come back for more no matter what type of smartphone they are interested in using.

With all that in mind, BlackBerry has not been performing nearly as well as others such as Samsung and Apple. Does this mean Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ) is going to pull the plug on the company? Of course not.

In fact, Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ) CEO Dan Mead has had a lot of good things to say about Research In Motion Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) BlackBerry.

Most recently, he spoke about how BlackBerry still has a place in the market despite its recent struggles.

CNET pointed out the following quote from Mead when discussing the upcoming launch of the company’s much anticipated Q10:

“We’re hopeful it will meet the needs for our customers who have been loyal BlackBerry customers.”

With the Research In Motion Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) BlackBerry Q10 selling well in other parts of the world, including the UK and Canada, it is safe to say that Mead and Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ) are hoping for big things in the United States once the device is officially released on the network.

While some people only want to focus their time and energy on two operation systems, iOS and Android, Mead feels that this is a mistake. Not only a mistake for the industry as a whole but for Verizon.

Here is what he had to say about the competition:

“Three to four operating systems is good for the industry and good for us.”

He is absolutely right. While iOS and Android may be top dog right now, there is a spot for Research In Motion Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) BlackBerry and other competitors. And not only is there a spot, but BBRY is in position to take back some market share if the company continues to push forward with its current momentum at its back.

It is good to see that Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ) CEO Dan Mead is excited about what BlackBerry brings to the table.
