Independent Software Vendors: Microsoft Looking to Kick Start Developers in India

Independent Software Vendors: There is no denying the fact that Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) is a major player in the software industry in the United States, as well as many other well developed countries throughout the world. Along with this, the company has become more involved in the hardware side of things thanks to its Surface tablets.

Microsoft Corporation (MSFT)Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) is one of the hedge fund industry’s most popular stock picks, and it’s always important to pay attention to the smart money (see just why here).

With all this in mind, the company is turning some of its time and efforts to developers in India.

According to a report by News Track India, “Microsoft is promoting a developer ecosystem by empowering its about 1,000 independent software vendors (ISVs) in India with tools, technologies and training to compete in a global marketplace.”

It is good to see companies with as much name recognition as Microsoft getting involved in countries that need a technology boost.

In the same article, Microsoft India general manager Joseph Landes is quoted as saying:

“We have played a big role in developing high-end skills of ISVs, IT professionals and students. As a result, our partners have greater opportunity to create modern apps (applications) connected to cloud services that make information more accessible to users on any device at any time.”

Of course, Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) is not limiting itself to India. The company is “working with 1.2-million developers worldwide to create the second-largest developer ecosystem for developing apps on its latest platforms.”

At the Indian subsidiary’s ‘TechEd 2013’ premier tech event, Landes added the following:

“Our aim is to provide the developer community with a supportive environment to drive path-breaking innovation globally on our range of platforms, which open up countless opportunities to shape the app ecosystem across multiple devices, giving developers the chance to maximise their revenues.”

“As the Indian IT industry matures, it is imperative that skill building should be the focus area for progressive growth and to bridge the opportunity divide amongst youth in India.”

With the backing of Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT), it is safe to say that developers in India will have the tools, technology, and training necessary to make a difference.
