Mario Gabelli & GAMCO’s Latest Moves Involve Dover Motorsports, Inc. (DVD), and Mueller Industries, Inc. (MLI)

Mario Gabelli, and his fund GAMCO Investors, together with their affiliated funds disclosed two moves into Dover Motorsports, Inc. (NYSE:DVD), and Mueller Industries, Inc. (NYSE:MLI). In a newly amended filing with the SEC, GAMCO, together with Teton Advisors and Gabelli Funds reported owning around 1.5 million shares of Dover Motorsports, Inc. (NYSE:DVD), the position being equal to 8.27% of the company’s common stock.

GAMCO holds 884,908 shares of the aggregate amount, which represent 4.87% of the common stock, the position remaining unchanged from the latest 13F. Teton Advisors however currently holds 282,500 shares, up from 252,500 shares in its latest 13F. Gabelli Funds sliced its stake to 334,450 shares, from 631,850 held at the end of the third quarter. The stock of Dover Motorsports, Inc. (NYSE:DVD) has been up 50% since the beginning of the year.

Ariel Investments, managed by John W. Rogers, and Wilmot B. Harkey and Daniel Mack’s Nantahala Capital Management have also been long Dover Motorsports, Inc. (NYSE:DVD) in the latest round of 13F filings. Ariel disclosed a $6.2 million position, which amasses 2.6 million shares. Nantahala’s position is smaller, the fund owning 827,700 shares, worth almost $2.0 million.

A second filing, showed that Mario Gabelli and GAMCO, together with their affiliates own over 2.0 million shares of Mueller Industries, Inc. (NYSE:MLI), which represent 7.1% of the company’s common stock. GAMCO owns 1.26 million shares, slightly up from 1.22 million held according to its latest 13F. Gabelli Funds also upped its stake to 709,562 shares, from 680,562 shares disclosed earlier. Mario Gabelli owns 31,200 shares of Mueller Industries, Inc. (NYSE:MLI) as well. The stock of the company has grown by 21% since the beginning of the year.

In addition to GAMCO and Gabelli, Jeffrey Gates’ Gates Capital Management reported owning 1.8 million shares of Mueller Industries, Inc. (NYSE:MLI), worth $98.7 million, in its latest 13F. Chuck Royce’s Royce & Associates, and Ken Fisher’s Fisher Asset Management positions are worth $42.5 million, and $41.7 million respectively and contain 763,200 shares, and 769,500 shares.
