Galaxy Note Vs iPad Mini: Is the Galaxy Note 8.0 an Apple iPad mini Killer?

Galaxy Note Vs iPad Mini: There is no denying the fact that Samsung is Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s main competitor. This has been noted time and time again as the two companies continue to battle for market share. In the hedge fund industry, however, Apple is the clear winner, and is actually the smart money’s second favorite publicly traded company (see why it’s important to pay attention to hedge fund activity).

Apple Inc (AAPL)This time around, it appears that Samsung is taking dead aim at the Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPad mini with its latest Galaxy Note 8.0. Whether or not this tablet will be able to dethrone the iPad mini is up for discussion. However, it is safe to say that this is what Samsung is hoping to accomplish with its release.

At the Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona, Spain, Samsung unveiled the stylus-enabled Galaxy Note 8.0 to the world.

While it is one thing for Samsung to think this tablet can overcome the Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPad mini, it is another thing entirely to make all the right moves.

For this reason, you may have one question on your mind: what does the Galaxy Note 8.0 offer that the iPad mini does not? After all, it is these details that will determine how much success the tablet has in the near future.

Samsung is sure to tout the fact that its Galaxy Note 8.0 has a larger screen. And while this may be true, it is important to note that the screen is only bigger by a tenth of an inch – hardly anything to write home about.

That being said, the Galaxy Note 8.0 eight inch screen is a higher resolution than that from Apple. The comparison is as follows: Galaxy Note 8.0: 1200×800 and the iPad mini: 1024×768.

In the camera department, the Galaxy Note 8.0 once again takes home a narrow victory with its 1.3MP camera compared to the 1.2MP offered by the mini.

As you can see, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 definitely beats the Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPad mini in some key areas. That being said, it is hard to say if the company did enough to move to the top of the industry. This is particularly true since a new mini is likely to hit the market in 2013, and is sure to be packed full of features.

What are your thoughts on the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0?
