Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC)’s history goes as far back as 1968 when Robert Noyce and Gordon Moore founded the company, which is headquarted in Santa Clara, California, and three years later introduced to the world the first microprocessor. In 1989 the microprocessor was awarded as one of the ten outstanding achievements for the advancement of human welfare by the National Academy of Engineering.

Aside microprocessors, among other products developed and manufactured by Intel are included Bluetooth chipsets, flash memory, motherboard chipsets, and network interface cards. One of the latest developments by Intel, is the first 3-D tri-gate transistor technology, which features a great performance combined with a power reduction. At the same time Intel presented a 22nm microprocessor (Ivy Bridge), which is the first high-volume chip that uses 3-D transistors.
