Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN)‘s cloud services have tremendously helped the companies get more competitive, whether its small startups or giants in the business. On Bloomberg, Weather Company CTO and CIO Bryson Koehler provided some figures to provide some perspective of how much has Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) really helped companies to save up on the IT costs.

“We do get to save money. So, some of our services are two thirds less if we run them ourselves. It’s significant and the impact of money savings is important, but the ability for us to not be dealing with, when I started we were 13 data centers, and 13 data centers get in the way,” said Koehler.

Koehler rightly pointed out that the cost saving aspect, although pretty significant, is not the only important saving that Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) is offering through its cloud services. The time that it helps managers save, means that they can concentrate their efforts on parts of the business that matter most instead of being bogged down by IT related issues.

As far as the quality of Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN)’s services is concerned, Koehler gave a very positive feedback on that end as well. He mentioned the significant computing power that a weather application needs, and Amazon doesn’t fail the company on that front either. Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN)’s services actually helped him to claim that his company provides the world’s most accurate forecast on the most scalable platform.

“We run our environment in four regions around the world, so we are built form ground up to withstand the individual averages. We run a 100-150,000 transactions a second at a global average of 11 millisecond response time, and we do that in four regions, so that we can withstand spikes as well as other problems,” said Koehler.

Weather related apps, which are also some of the top paid apps on android platforms, are not the only businesses that Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) is helping through its cloud computing. Several others also owe their success to the e-commerce’s web services.
