Google Kirkland Campus: Google to Grow Size of Kirkland Campus

Google Kirkland Campus: It seems like Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) is always looking for a way to grow. With offices all over the world, the company is in position to add size and employees in a number of locations. This time around, it seems as if the Kirkland, Washington campus is the location getting the makeover.

Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) is one of the hedge fund industry’s most popular stock picks, but it’s been displaced by a financial stock recently (see which one here).

According to an article in the Seattle Times, the search engine giant has announced plans to double the size of its campus. With this in mind, the company will be able to hire roughly 1,000 more employees.

Here is a brief excerpt from the article:

“The project comes amid a remarkable surge of investment by tech companies in the Seattle market, including Amazon.com’s enormous (and growing) Seattle campus, Microsoft’s efforts to fill thousands of new positions, and a steady stream of tech giants following Google’s footsteps to establish satellite engineering offices in the area.”

As you can see, Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) is not the only company getting in on the action. There are several other tech companies, including Amazon and Microsoft, that are growing their presence in this part of the country.

While this information is being made available right now, it will be a couple of years before the company is able to take advantage of the bigger campus. The two new buildings are not expected to be ready until 2015.

Here is Chee Chew, director of the company’s Kirkland site, had to say:

“We think that the opportunity here is really huge.”

Simple enough, right?

With Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) growing the size of its Kirkland campus in the near future, it will be interesting to see if the company spends money doing the same to other locations throughout the world.

While more space for the tech giant is a good thing, it is the jobs that this will create that people of Washington should really be excited about.
