Facebook Inc (FB)’s Zuckerberg Gets a 9 out of 10 rating on His Chinese From Jeff Wang

Either Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB)‘s CEO, is a genius, or it is not that time consuming to be at the helm of the world’s biggest social media platform. Apparently, he has managed to learn a new language, and not just any language for that matter. He learnt nearly fluent Chinese.

On Bloomberg, Jeff Wang, the director of education and China Learning Initiatives at the Asia Society, dissected Zuckerberg’s newly publicized skill, so that the many of us who have no idea about Mandarin, can gain little insight on how good Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB)’s CEO actually is.

“[…] If Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) had a rating system from 0 to 10, I would rate Mark at 9, because he achieved far more in this exchange with the trust and connection and communication by doing it in Chinese then if he could have done it in English and I rate him 9 because I want him to keep learning […],” said Wang.

Like many other speakers of a foreign language, the king of Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) also had an accent, but that didn’t in any way, stop him from keeping his Chinese audiences captivated for thirty minutes. Yes, that is right, it was not a simple greeting, or a quick joke that Zuckerberg had already prepped before. He went on to speak for a considerable amount of time.

“[..] Mark’s accent was unmistakably that of a foreigner speaking Chinese, but that is o.k. We have got thousands of dialects, within China alone, so Chinese people are used to hearing accents. They should get used to hearing foreign accents too. In China somewhere near 300 million people, which is about the population of United states, in China cannot communicate effectively in standard Chinese […],” informed Wang.

While a lot of praise has been showered on Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB)’s CEO, there is a very important person, who has been behind all this Chinese surprise, but didn’t get  a lot of media attention. She is Zuckerberg’s wife, Perscilla Chan, who has Chinese roots. It is an equally big achievement for her, if not more.
