Neilson and his team also owned Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG), with nearly 300,000 shares in their portfolio at the end of September. Google has been in a tricky situation as do far the company hasn’t been able to make its acquisition of Motorola Mobility Holdings add much to earnings. The stock trades at 16 times consensus earnings for 2013 and we think that it’s probably best to wait for more information before considering an investment. Lone Pine Capital owned 1.1 million share of Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG); that fund is managed by billionaire and Tiger Cub Stephen Mandel. Research more stocks Lone Pine owned.

Platinum kept its position in Marvell Technology Group Ltd. (NASDAQ:MRVL) constant at about 12 million shares. Marvell, a designer of integrated circuits, is also a favorite of billionaire David Einhorn’s Greenlight Capital (check out Einhorn’s stock picks). The stock is down 51% in the last year, and in its most recent fiscal quarter (which ended in October) net income declined at a slightly higher rate compared to the same period in the previous fiscal year. Analysts expect a recovery, as is implied by the trailing and forward P/Es of 14 and 11, but we would have to see actual improvement in the financials to consider it.
