Becker, revealed in a filing that it has purchased 332,450 shares of Special Diversified Opportunities Inc (OTCMKTS:SDOI) and now owns 6.87 million shares. The securities have been acquired in several transactions, the price varying between $1.12 and $1.14 per share.
It’s the second increase after a couple of months ago, the fund revealed that it boosted its position in Special Diversified Opportunities Inc (OTCMKTS:SDOI) to 6.1 million shares from 4 million shares held earlier.
Special Diversified Opportunities a biotechnology company, develops, commercializes and markets products and solutions that preserve human health and wellness. It serves biotechnology, diagnostics, pharmaceutical and food safety markets. Special Diversified Opportunities Inc (OTCMKTS:SDOI) sold its assets of Life Science businesses to OriGene Technologies in mid 2013.
Becker Drapkin Management focuses on small-cap value situations in the U.S. equity market. It is biased towards Services sector, but it also invests in Consumer Goods and Technology sectors. Last month, Becker Drapkin Management trimmed its holdings in Pacer International, Inc. (NASDAQ:PACR) to 2.16 million shares from 3.12 million shares held earlier.
Recently Becker Drapkin Management raised its stake in EMCORE Corporation (NASDAQ:EMKR) to 2.34 million shares from 2.31 million shares held earlier. Later the fund edged up to 3.2 million shares in EMCORE. The fund entered into an agreement with EMCORE Corporation, wherein Mr. Becker, Mr. Stephen Domenik and Mr. Gerald Fine were elected to the board. At same time, the fund had also edged up its position in Comverse Inc (NASDAQ:CNSI) to 1.4 million from 93,300 shares.
