Apple Inc. (AAPL)’s New Patent Might Bring Interesting Features to People in Future

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has been granted a new patent today by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, which might allow people in future to view their friend’s movement in real-time through their mobile devices. A CNET article reported on the news and discussed about the new possibilities that Apple Inc. might have after obtaining this new patent.

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)

The new patent is called as Sharing location information among devices which explains a procedure that would allow a person to see visual depiction of the path taken by another person. It’s like tracking that person’s entire route of journey through a mobile device. This new patent of Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) also indicates that the user’s respective device would be sharing the mapping directions so that people could find each other easily with the help of their mobile devices.

At this point, a question about privacy and security of people might come into our minds but Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has the answer for it. The company has described in its patent that the new feature must be enabled by the person who is being tracked, allowing other person to know its position and movements on the way. It won’t be possible until a person gives another person the permission to be tracked.

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has also indicated in its patent that the devices could be carried by humans, animals or robots, which means that those devices could be placed on a pet’s color like keeping track of a dog. It could also be a device installed on a robot that someone could follow to get directions, for example; in a large shopping mall or other building, or it could be used to track a robotic machine that has been sent into hazardous situations to save lives of human beings.

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) already has a feature in its iPhone and iPad devices known as ‘Find My Friends’ that enables a person to find the certain location of another person, but this new patent obtained by Apple Inc. might bring out more advanced features in its devices that would be tracking the whole movements of people on their way instead of just showing their current spots. It also opens up new possibilities for Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) to bring out several new devices or entirely new features in its current devices that would help the tech giant to further increase its user base and market share.
