Apple Inc. (AAPL)’s iOS Vs. Google Inc (GOOGL)’s Android: Who Is Winning The Battle In United States And Outside?

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s iOS and Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL)’s Android keeps dominating the operating system for mobile phones. But who is winning the competition between the two? Most importantly, with the huge success of recently launched record breaking iPhone 6 and 6 plus, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) might have regained some of the lost shares to Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) devices. CNBC’s Phil Han reported on CNBC about who is winning the battle based on the sales numbers.

Han said that one of biggest battle of 2014 is Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s iOS vs. Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL)’s Android. He talked about the latest sales figures released for the last three months, August, September and October. He pointed out at the ‘Kantar Woldpanel’ data and said that even though iPhone 6 is only available for just more than a month, it captured 33% of iOS market, which is the largest component. iPhones 5S and 5C occupies the next two positions with 26% and 18% respectively.

Among the Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL)’s Android operated mobile devices, Samsung’s Galaxy S5 is the bestselling which comprises of 22% of the Android market, whereas S4 managed to capture only 12% of the share.

“Apple increased its market share in US, year on year to just 41%. […] Android increased its shares in US market beating Apple to capture almost 54%,” Han reported.

Han said that Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL)’s Android looks like the clear winner in United States, where in addition to increasing their market share, they were able to beat Apple at it as well. But he added the story in other countries is different. He said the Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is managing to land some pretty good punches outside the United States.

Han said that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) managed to increase its market share in UK, Germany, Australia and Spain. He added that Android devices started to see declines in all the above mentioned markets.
