First Apple iPhone: What Will Happen To The iPhone?

First Apple iPhone: If you were an Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) fan in the early days, you probably remember how excited you were when the company’s first iPhone hit the market. This device may not be  nearly as advanced as it is today, but one thing is for sure: it changed the smartphone market forever.

Apple Inc (AAPL)Does this mean that Apple no longer cares about its original iPhone? Of course not. That being said, it is time for Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) to leave it in the past and move on.

According to 9to5Mac, a website that got its hand on “internal Apple documentation,” the original iPhone “will soon enter “obsolete” status, with a few exceptions.”

According to the documentation, this switch is set to change on June 11, 2013. Along with the original iPhone, several other Mac and Xserve models will be added to one of these two classifications.

Are you wondering how Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) classifies vintage and obsolete products? If so, you don’t have to look any further than this web page. Here is what you need to know:

“Vintage products are those that were discontinued more than five and less than seven years ago. Apple has discontinued hardware service for vintage products with the following exception:

– Products purchased in the state of California, United States, as required by statute.

– Owners of vintage Macintosh products may obtain service and parts from Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) service providers within the state of California, United States.

– Owners of vintage iPod products in the state of California may obtain service from Apple Retail Stores or by contacting AppleCare at 1-800-APL-CARE.

Obsolete products are those that were discontinued more than seven years ago. Apple has discontinued all hardware service for obsolete products with no exceptions. Service providers cannot order parts for obsolete products.”

As you can see, the status of the Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) original iPhone, at least in the eyes of the Cupertino based company, is going to change forever. With that being said, most people will always look back at the original device and realize that it changed the technology world for the better.

Other notable products moving to vintage status include: iMac 20 inch, iMac 24 inch, and Xserve RAID.

This is a practice that Apple has had in place for many years. Even a great product like the original iPhone has to join the list at some point in time.
