In an overall sense, we have covered the fact that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is still king of the tablet market. You can see one of our most recent stories on this here. Does this mean Cupertino is dominating from one side of the globe to the next? In most cases the answer is yes. However, the company does have some work to do in particular regions.

Tim CookAre you aware that the Taiwan tablet market is quickly on the rise? This is something Apple, along with many other tablet makers, are paying close attention to. A growing number of consumers in this country are buying tablets, and for this reason it only makes sense for Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) to begin flexing its muscles in the area.

Digitimes recently brought us this story: Taiwan market: Tablet shipments to reach 1.6 million units in 2013

This may not put Taiwan anywhere close to the numbers that are being pushed in other parts of the world, but as an emerging market it shows that the region is about to do big things.

With tablet shipments expected to reach 1.6 million units in 2013, this is a 50  percent increase when compared to the prior year. If things continue to move in this direction at such as fast pace, it will be interesting to see where the Taiwan market ends up in a couple of years.

Here is more from the piece, explaining in greater detail where Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) currently fits into the equation:

“Currently, among Tsann Kuen’s tablet sales, 50-60% are Apple iPad series devices and around 20% are Samsung tablets, leaving Asustek Computer and Acer each having about 10%. However, in the future, the retailer expects the proportion of Android-based models to gradually rise and reach a balance with iPads.”

As you can see, Apple Inc. is out in front with its iPad lineup right now but this could be set to change in the future with Android powered devices gaining ground.

It will be interesting to see how Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) reacts to the growth in this market. Although Cupertino is having its way right now, for the most part, there is reason to believe that Android powered tablets are going to be making a strong push in the years to come.

Apple is in good position to make big waves in the Taiwan tablet market. Whether or not the company makes all the right moves is yet to be seen.
