Is Apple ‘Doomed’? Is Tim Cook Being Fired? No and No (Forbes)
It’s getting hard to keep this straight, but Apple Inc., the company, and AAPL, the stock, are not the same thing. You’d think sophisticated people would know better by now, but you’d clearly be wrong. AAPL, the stock is down from over $700 a share a few months ago to around $400 as I write this. Because the company is so valuable (yes, even still), that change in share price represents a “loss” of $300 billion in shareholder wealth from the peak. It’s a shocking sum, but what’s even more shocking is the nonsensical proclamations it’s bringing with it: “Is Apple Looking For A Replacement For CEO Cook?“, which is a popular post on Forbes today and also “The impossible task of fixing Apple,” a tirade by the once-respected analyst Rob Enderle. Tim Cook is not being fired and an Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) turnaround is not impossible.

Can Apple stop the profits rot? (The Guardian)
A year is a long time in the life of a technology firm – and so it has proved for Apple. Last April, the iPhone maker’s shares had broken through $600 (£393) and tipsters were predicting they would rise to $1,000. Apple had overtaken Exxon Mobil Corporation (NYSE:XOM) as the world’s most valuable listed company and was still expanding. Time magazine named Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s chief executive one of its most influential people. “Tim Cook, a soft-spoken, genuinely humble and quietly intense son of an Alabama shipyard worker and a homemaker, hasn’t missed a single beat,” wrote the Apple board member and former vice-president Al Gore in a eulogy to mark the occasion.

RadioShack Corporation (NYSE:RSH)Apple Donates $8 Million to Chinese Earthquake Victims (Mac Rumors)
Following a devastating earthquake that struck in Sichuan, China over the weekend, Apple has donated 50 million RMB or approximately $8 million to affected victims. In addition to the donation, Apple has also updated the front page of its Chinese website to express its condolences and to offer schools in the area new Apple devices. Donations during disasters are not uncommon for Apple, with the company previously offering relief money to victims struck by tragedy on several occasions.

Apple Inc. (AAPL) Throwing a Bone to This Electronic Retailer (Insider Monkey)
Do you remember the days when RadioShack Corporation (NYSE:RSH) was one of the top retailers in the world? While the company has held on over the years, unlike many competitors, it has also slipped in the mind of many consumers. Maybe Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) can help this electronic retailer get back on track. If you visit the page on the RadioShack Corporation (NYSE:RSH) website, you will run into something interesting. The company is now selling Mac accessories for “home, office and on the go.” Although the two companies have been working together for a few years, carrying both the iPhone and the iPad, this is another bump that should help the electronic retailer in a variety of ways.

Slowdown in Apple orders weighs on LG Display’s first-quarter profit (Reuters)
LG Display Co Ltd. (ADR) (NYSE:LPL) reported its smallest profit since it returned to the black in the second quarter of last year, as demand for iPhone and iPad screens from Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) weakened amid concerns the U.S. company is losing its luster in the mobile device market. Apple Inc, which analysts say provides about 30 percent of LG Display’s revenue, is facing intensifying competition from Samsung and up-and-coming rivals. A disappointing forecast by a U.S. supplier to Apple last week heightened fears about slowing demand for the iPhone and iPad, pushing shares of Asian suppliers including LG Display Co Ltd. (ADR) (NYSE:LPL) sharply lower.

Apple Needs New Ideas, Not a New CEO (Hot Hardware)
Apple CEO Tim Cook may soon find himself out of a job. That’s assuming the latest rumors suggesting a disgruntled board are true. Over at Forbes, it’s being reported that Apple’s board is ready to make a major shakeup by ousting Tim Cook from his throne, and even if the wheels aren’t already in motion, apparently some of the company’s share holders would like to see it happen. First and foremost, however, let’s not forget how he came to power in the first place. Keeping in mind that…
…it’s sacrilegious to denounce Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) co-founder Steve Jobs as anything but a genius, those calling for Cook’s head seem to forget that it was Jobs who put in him in power in the first place. If Cook was a mistake, then it was Jobs’ mistake. Apple needs to find its innovative mojo, there’s argument there. But a new CEO? Only if record profits are a problem.

Apple Inc. (AAPL): Why Tim Cook Should Remain CEO (Insider Monkey)
First and foremost, there is no reason to jump the gun. Companies, especially those the size of Apple, go through cycles of ups and downs. Can you recall anybody calling for Cook’s job at the end of 2012? In other words, you cannot judge Cook’s performance based on a rough stretch in the markets that was to be expected at some point in time. Was Steve Jobs perfect? Definitely not. We all know that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) stock has taken a hit as of late. It is under $400 and investors are concerned. But remember one thing: Apple is actually up 12 percent since Cook took over as CEO. This is often times overlooked due to the company’s recent struggles.

Are games on Apple’s App Store curated or censored? (Financial Post)
The Cupertino, California-based computer giant’s phenomenally successful iOS platform is host to tens of thousands of games. However, vague stipulations in Apple’s developer agreement that detail how the company determines whether an app will be rejected or approved are preventing what some have come to call “serious games” from finding a home on iOS devices. For example, Endgame: Syria, a strategy game that attempts to educate players about the ongoing Syrian civil war and is based on information published in respected news outlets, was rejected in January because it referenced real world groups, people, and countries.

Bracing for Disaster: How Bad Will Apple’s Earnings Be? (Yahoo! Finance)
Apple’s results in the December quarter disappointed many analysts, and the company’s outlook for the first quarter was also meh. But now, after a steady flow of news reports suggesting that first-quarter sales have not gone well, as well as Apple’s failure to release any new products so far this year, many on Wall Street think that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) will miss even its low guidance for the quarter. Worse, many expect that Apple will provide an outlook for the June quarter that is far below what Wall Street is currently expecting. In other words, Tuesday’s earnings report is expected to be a disaster. That’s one reason the stock has tanked over the last several weeks: No one wants to be the sucker left holding the bag.

Apple claims that Google’s search methodology in ongoing legal dispute is flawed (tuaw.com)
While Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) emerged victorious in its patent suit against Samsung last summer, the two tech behemoths have another trial looming concerning Samsung’s Galaxy Nexus smartphone along with a slew of other Samsung devices. Consequently, 2014 will see both Apple and Samsung take center stage yet again in an entirely new patent suit, held in the same jurisdiction with the same judge. The 2014 patent trial is currently in the discovery phase of litigation, and Florian Mueller recently stumbled upon a rather interesting motion filed by Apple entitled, “Google’s Search Methodology Was Clearly Flawed.” The gist of the memo is that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has asked Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) for certain documentation in connection with the aforementioned litigation, and that Google’s search methodology in carrying out Apple’s requests has been wanting.
