Apple Inc. (AAPL) New Xmas Gift: Another Patent Lawsuit!

Not only that, however – the suit also alleges infringement on three other patents which cover wireless technologies – directly applicable to Airport Express and Airport Extreme routers by Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) – again, with which some iDevices have access. So if you’re keeping score, EON is claiming that Apple is infringing on seven patents in total, which could very well affect Apple’s two most prominent services and about a dozen devices. As the suit was filed Wednesday, Apple has no public comment on the filing at this point, but there is a reasonable certainty that the company will be talking in the coming weeks.

EON, by the way used to be called TV Answer, which was developed in the 1990s to create interactive polls and shopping opportunities through a network and a connector box. However, that business did not do well, so the firm transitioned to licensing its current portfolio of patents.

Perhaps it could be time for a New Year’s resolution for Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) in 2013: Keep your patent nose clean and try to stay out of any new courtrooms. If a judge knows your attorneys on a first-name basis, perhaps that is bad news for your investors?
