Apple Vs Samsung: Apple iPhone Users May ‘Hate’ Samsung, But They’re Very Similar, Study Says

Apple Vs Samsung: Are you on team Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone or team Samsung Galaxy S III? While the two companies continue to fight over patents in court, fans of both tech giants are waging war over which smartphone is better.

Apple Inc (AAPL)Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) may be the smart money’s second favorite publicly traded company but hedge funds have started dumping the Cupertino-based company in favor of a surprising financial stock (see which stock hedge funds are buying like crazy).

On the surface, it is easy to believe that users of the iPhone and Galaxy S III are complete opposites. That being said, a recent study released by Consumer Intelligence Research Partners shows that this may not be the case.

According to an article by AppleInsider, the research company has taken the time to examine “device usage patterns of iPhone and Galaxy S III owners.”

Here is a brief excerpt from the piece:

“In terms of device use, respondents from both brands engaged in calling, texting, email, and Internet access at about the same rate. Both Galaxy S III and iPhone owners use their phones mostly for texting and accessing the web. Between 80 and 90 percent of Galaxy S III and iPhone owners reported using their phones to send texts several times per day, while 75 percent of Galaxy S III owners and more than 80 percent of iPhone owners said they use their phones for Internet access several times daily. “

As you can see, the statistics involving usage are pretty much the same for the Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone and Samsung Galaxy S III.

With that being said, there are some things that show that the two groups are not completely identical.

For example, users of the iPhone are more likely to rely on their device for gaming or photo related activities on a daily basis. In fact, roughly 80 percent of iPhone owners surveyed consider themselves a “frequent phone gamer.” This is in contrast to just about 70 percent for Samsung Galaxy S III users.

It is also important to make note of the type of tablets that both users own. The study shows that iPhone owners are twice as likely to own an iPad than any other tablet. Would you expect the same from Samsung users? Of course not. Samsung Galaxy S III were twice as likely to own an Android tablet.

As you can see, there are many similarities between Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) and Samsung Galaxy S III owners. That being said, you don’t want to overlook some of the key differences.
