Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL): Does its brand recognition carry the most weight? This is an important question, and luckily for curious folks such as ourselves, we may finally have the answer. Apple bulls, though, may not like what they find.
The verdict for who’s the world’s “most powerful brand” is out and you would be really surprised to know that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) was not the chosen one to make it to the No. 1 spot on the list. In fact, Apple somehow managed to remain in the top ten positions–albeit barely–by staying at No. 10 of the “Top 10 Most Powerful Brands in the World” list issued by the world’s leading brand valuation consultancy firm: Brand Finance Plc.
Surprised? Well, if yes, this is not the end and there is more in store for you. Many of you would think that it could be Samsung or Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) on top, but the list issued by Brand Finance will prove you wrong.
In a statement referring to their pick for the most powerful company on this list, Brand Finance CEO David Haigh said, “Brand is one of many intangible assets which drive profitable growth. Technology, contractual, human capital and customer intangibles as well as general goodwill all drive overall corporate value. With revenues in the tens of billions, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) and Samsung are slugging it out for global brand supremacy and are vying with each other to create strong ‘customer love’ for their brands. However, there are other brands in the Global 500 that though they may never challenge the brand value giants, are nonetheless extremely powerful and well-loved.”
A brand is an intangible asset for any company, and could be in the form of a name, design, logo, symbol or tag line which distinguishes a company’s product from another. Brands have value, which can be determined using various methods. Brand Finance, for example, values brands taking into account factors like forecasted revenues and royalty rates, which are particularly important for a company like Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL).
Well, without further ado, let’s check out the list and find out which company has left the Apples and the Googles of the world behind to become its most powerful brand.
