Wall Street experts believe that Okta, Inc. (NASDAQ:OKTA) is entering a potentially important phase, with companies deploying AI agents that need authentication, permissions, and continuous access controls. At Oktane 2026, it announced new Okta for AI Agents capabilities, including Agent SSO, positioning identity management as a potential infrastructure layer for autonomous AI.
This opportunity remains visible in the company’s financial profile. Its Q2 2027 revenue went up by 11% to $805 million, with subscription revenue rising by 12%. RPO rose 17% to $4.86 billion, providing greater contracted revenue visibility.

AI Agents Could Expand Okta’s Addressable Market
BMO Capital’s recent view supports the growth thesis. After Oktane 2026, the firm lifted the price objective to $230 from $187. The firm believes that identity’s total addressable market is expected to expand and that Okta, Inc.’s AI portfolio is capable of generating incremental growth, increasing adoption of existing solutions, as well as aiding new customer wins.
This remains critical as AI agents can develop a new category of identities that need authentication, authorization, and governance. If the company captures that spending, AI can supplement instead of replacing existing Workforce Identity and Customer Identity businesses.
Okta’s Moat Could Widen
Okta, Inc.’s competitive advantage revolves around an independent identity platform, broad integrations, and embedded role in enterprise authentication and access management. The company had 5,255 customers with ACV above $100,000 as of July 2026, with dollar-based net retention reaching 107%.
The AI opportunity can further deepen this moat, provided customers utilize Okta to manage human, machine, and AI-agent identities via the same infrastructure.
AI Still Needs to Move the Growth Needle
The key investment question which investors are asking is whether AI can accelerate Okta, Inc. beyond the current growth trajectory. The company’s FY 2027 revenue guidance is $3.216 billion – $3.226 billion, demonstrating growth of 10% – 11%.
As a result, the investors need evidence that AI products can eventually push growth significantly above the low-double-digit range. Without this acceleration, expectations related to the AI opportunity can impact its stock price.
Institutional Backing
Okta, Inc. has a healthy institutional backing, with 58 hedge funds (out of more than 1000 elite hedge funds tracked by Insider Monkey) having long positions in the stock at the end of Q2 2026. This reflects an increase from 49 hedge funds that were long at the end of Q1 2026.
AI Agents Are the Catalyst
Some of the upside catalysts include ramp-up of AI-agent adoption, new-logo wins, higher spending from existing customers, as well as successful monetization of the company’s AI portfolio. That being said, investors should be wary of subdued AI monetization, competitive pressure from Microsoft and other security platforms, or enterprises consolidating identity and security spending around the well-established vendors.
