Why The Apple Inc. (AAPL) Supply Chain Is So Important

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is spending a lot of time focused on emerging markets. This is not much of a surprise, being that these markets are where the most growth is going to come from over the next few years. With all that being said, Apple, as well as other companies, are only going to be able to take advantage of these markets if their supply chain is in good working order (see this story for more).

Jony IveGartner recently published a special report examining the supply chain strategies for emerging markets. This is very interesting information, as it pertains directly to Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) as well as many of the other companies that are hoping to make waves in the tablet and smartphone markets in the near future.

Here is a brief excerpt from the piece:

“Supply chain leaders will play a crucial role as companies capitalize on the explosive growth in emerging markets, according to Gartner, Inc. Emerging markets have been identified as the primary business growth area for the next century, and Gartner said that organizations with strong demand planning capabilities and segmented supply strategies are better positioned to capitalize on market opportunities, as well as to mitigate risks.”

Apple is well known for keeping its supply chain running smoothly, despite the fact that Cupertino has faced some issues over the past year. As the company continues to spend more time in emerging markets, a solid supply chain operation is going to be extremely important to its success.

Mike Burkett, research vice president at Gartner, took a closer look at this and shared the following information:

“Emerging markets present huge opportunities but come with unique characteristics and challenges due to the constant thrust for business growth, volatile demand and low maturity of supply chain processes. The ability to plan demand better is a tremendous advantage, as accurate demand plans help supply chain leaders align end-to-end supply chains correctly, and forecast predictable outcomes and profitable responses to demand.”

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) never rests when it comes to improving its supply chain. Along with this, the company has made it clear that it will be diving into emerging markets heavily in the years to come.

This report from Gartner should open your eyes as to why Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) spends so much time ensuring that its supply chain is just the way it should be.
