Where Does Google Inc (GOOG) Go From Here With Its Tablets?

Many people are wondering when the iPad will finally meet its match in the tablet market. At this point, nobody has stepped up to put forth a worthy challenger. That being said, Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) is doing its best with the Nexus 7. We have discussed this tablet here, and over the past few months a growing number of consumers have been giving it a second look.

With all this in mind, Digitimes has published a story that explains where the Nexus 7 is sitting right now: Sales of second-generation Nexus 7 hard to reach 8 million units, say Taiwan makers

Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG)

Here is what you need to know:

“Some Taiwan-based vendors estimate that as many as eight million second-generation Nexus 7s can be sold globally in 2013, but Taiwan-based supply chain makers have indicated that the volume will be difficult to reach because many vendors will launch competing models. The second-generation Nexus 7, co-developed by Google and Asustek Computer, will be launched at the end of July or the beginning of August, according to industry sources.”

As you can see, there are conflicting opinions on what is going to happen with the Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) Nexus 7 as 2013 wears on. Will the company be able to ship as many as eight million tablets? Or will it come up short due to increased competition?

Here is more information from the article, pointing out the fresh features of this tablet that will help it compete with the rest of the market:

“Sources from the supply chain revealed that the new Nexus 7 features a 7-inch 1980 by 1200 display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor, 5-megapixel rear and 1.2-megapixel front cameras and expected price will be around US$199-249 for a model with Wi-Fi support.”

The Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) Nexus 7 is going to be more affordable than the iPad, but this doesn’t mean much overall. In many markets, consumers are willing to pay more if it means getting the best of the best.

As of right now, there is no way of knowing if this tablet from Google is going to reach expectations. That being said, it will have a lot to offer and consumers will have a decision to make.

Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) is hoping to make waves in the tablet market moving forward. If it is going to be successful in doing so, the Nexus 7 will have to emerge from the pack and show the competition who is boss.
