Artisan Select Equity Fund stated the following regarding Berkshire Hathaway Inc. (NYSE:BRK-B) in its Q1 2025 investor letter:

“Berkshire Hathaway Inc.’s (NYSE:BRK-B) shares rose 17% during the quarter. The most interesting thing about this company is its ability to deploy cash across a variety of different investment opportunities—public markets, private markets, internal capital expenditures and insurance markets. Last year, the primary driver of profit growth was its insurance operations and related investments, which benefited from a rebound in its auto insurance business (GEICO), a hard market in property and casualty (P&C) reinsurance, and significantly higher investment income due to higher interest rates. The company is exceptionally well capitalized, with over $300 billion in cash and short-term investments at the end of last year. While the shares are no longer a bargain, we continue to like the diversified nature of the company’s cash flow-producing portfolio and have confidence in Buffett’s ability to allocate his massive war chest.”
