Microsoft wants HTML5 on Xbox One (Develop-Online)
Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) is considering an HTML 5 development solution for the Xbox One that would make it easier for the company to attract developers to its Windows Phone platform. Yesterday the company purchased Nokia Corporation (ADR) (NYSE:NOK)‘s Devices and Services division – once the world leader in mobile phone sales – for £4.6 billion, and recently announced it was lowering the annual fee for Windows Phone development.

Apple event invitation hints at new phone colors (10News)
Apple has sent a colorful invitation for an event next week amid speculation that it may debut new colors for the latest iPhone. The invitation, emailed Tuesday, has a picture of the Apple logo surrounded by multi-colored polka dots and the sentence: “This should brighten everyone’s day.” The iPhone 5, which went on sale in September of 2012, comes only in black or white. The event is on Sept. 10 at Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) headquarters in Cupertino, Calif. The company’s latest phone model was expected to be unveiled this month.

Google Inc (GOOG) Surpasses 1 Billion Android Activations (Pulse2)
Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) has surpassed 1 billion Android device activations, according to Google senior vice president Sundar Pichai. The next version of the Google Android operating system will be called “KitKat.” “All this Android innovation is driving tremendous ecosystem momentum and I’m excited to share that together we’ve now passed 1 Billion Android device activations. Huge thanks to the entire Android community from the hardware manufacturers, chip makers and carriers to the developers and content creators to all of you – our Android users around the world – for making this possible,” stated Pichai.
