The Bank of New York Mellon Corporation (NYSE:BK) is among the top ten holdings of the Berkshire portfolio and is one of the long-term investments of Buffett. The billionaire first invested in the company in the fourth quarter of 2020, around the time he also invested in other finance stocks, picking them up at cheap prices after the crisis of 2009. The stake was worth just $54 million and was sold later. However, Buffett purchased another stake in the firm in the third quarter of 2013. The holding was worth $744 million in 2013 and is now valued at more than $3.7 billion.
