VietJet Doubles Airbus A330neo Order with New Deal for 20 Jets

On Monday, Vietnamese budget airline VietJet placed a new order with Airbus (OTC:EADSY) for 20 A330neo wide-body jets. This agreement was signed in Hanoi by VietJet Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao and President Airbus International Wouter van Wersch. It doubles VietJet’s firm orders for the A330neo to 40 aircraft, following a previous order for 20 A330neo planes placed in February 2024.

The signing took place during an official visit by French President Emmanuel Macron to Vietnam, where he met with Vietnamese President Luong Cuong. This order is estimated to be worth ~$8 billion at list price and is intended to support VietJet’s expansion over the next decade. The airline plans to boost flights on high-capacity routes across the Asia-Pacific region and introduce future long-haul services to Europe.

VietJet’s current fleet consists entirely of Airbus aircraft, which includes 115 single-aisle A320 Family planes and 7 A330-300s. The airline also has 96 A320neo Family single-aisle aircraft on order.
