Ultratech Inc (UTEK): Adage Capital Management Increases Stake

Phil Gross and Robert Atchinson’s Adage Capital Management recently filed a Form 13G with the Securities and Exchange Commission, in which it reported increasing its stake in Ultratech Inc (NASDAQ:UTEK) to 1.45 million common shares, which account for 5.45% of the company’s outstanding stock. Previously, the fund disclosed owning 1.18 million shares in its latest 13F filing, for the reporting period of March 31.

Ultratech is a company that distributes laser thermal processing, photolithography and inspection equipment. Over the previous 12 months, the firm’s stock gained 20.93%. According to its latest financial report for the first quarter of 2016, the company incurred a loss per share of $0.04, in-line with estimates, while revenue came in at $45.21 million, beating estimates of $39.1 million.

According to our hedge fund database, 11 investors were bullish on Ultratech (NASDAQ:UTEK) at the end of March, compared to nine a quarter earlier. The biggest position belonged to Clint Carlson’s Carlson Capital, and was valued at $75.4 million, with the second-biggest position being reported by Adage Capital Management.
