TotalEnergies SE (NYSE:TTE) aims to boost U.S. LNG exports to India, while expanding its investments in renewables, Chairman and CEO Patrick Pouyanné revealed following a recent meeting with India’s Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal.  The French energy giant is already the largest exporter of American LNG while India represents the fourth-largest LNG market globally, with demand expected to grow even further in the coming years.

TotalEnergies SE (NYSE:TTE) is looking to ramp up its LNG sales, especially now that a great many countries are looking to bridge their trade gap with the United States in order to avoid retaliatory tariffs from the Trump administration. India, which boasted a trade surplus of over $23 billion with the U.S. between April and November 2024, is now looking to reduce this imbalance by purchasing energy output worth up to $25 billion from the Americans.

TotalEnergies SE (NYSE:TTE) has already invested nearly $5 billion in India over the last five years, focusing on natural gas infrastructure, city gas distribution, and renewables. Moreover, on the renewable front, the company already boasts an ongoing partnership with Adani Green Energy, which currently operates 14 GW of renewable capacity. Total Chairman and CEO Pouyanné highlighted that the French energy major would continue to support Adani Green’s growth, despite last year’s announcement of a pause in new investments pending the resolution of bribery allegations involving the Indian company’s founder.
