Top 5 Countries with the Highest Number of Engineers

4. Japan

Japan’s education ministry will allocate ¥300 billion ($2.1 billion) to support 111 universities and technical colleges, aiming to improve science education, particularly in green and digital technologies. The decision seeks to boost Japan’s global standing in science and technology research. A ministry report noted Japan’s fall to 12th in highly-cited scientific papers, down from fourth in the early 2000s. Currently, 35% of Japanese students graduate in STEM fields.

Japan has an annual number of 168,214 graduates in engineering/manufacturing/construction.
