5. Orlando, Florida

According to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV), over 400,000 car accidents occur in the state annually, out of which 30,000 take place in Orlando. Around 350 of these accidents are related to drunk driving incidents, causing 30 to 50 fatalities. Meanwhile, DUI leads to at least 20 deaths per annum.

4. Birmingham, Alabama

In 2020, the Alabama Crash Facts Report depicted around 130,000 car crashes in the state. As a result, 586 people lost their lives. A further breakdown of the data revealed that a high number of these crashes occurred in Birmingham and Montgomery, with bad driving being attributed to speeding and DUI.

3. Louisville, Kentucky

Louisville recorded more than 650 tragic traffic deaths in 2022, which were the result of two primary reasons. One of these was drunk driving, which contributed to 14% of fatal accidents. The second reason for 53.6% of the deaths was people not adhering to proper driving-safety rules, such as using seat belts when on the road.

2. Tampa, Florida

When talking about the worst drivers by state in 2023, Florida is at the top. An estimated 4,000 traffic crashes occurred in the state in 2021, whereas Tampa recorded 800 of these. According to Signal Four Analytics, 60% of the crashes in the city were caused by bad driving practices, excluding speeding, which accounted for 36% of the overall damage.

1. Jacksonville, Florida

Jacksonville is ranked number one on the list of the top 20 cities with the worst drivers in the US and for good reason. In the year 2022 alone, the city experienced more than 23,000 car crashes.  The total number of crashes in the city was the highest in 2017 and has not significantly fallen since then. In the year 2021, the total number of crashes reported went up to 24,436, as compared to 24,412 reported in 2017.
