Top 20 Countries with the Best Education System in the World

In this article, we will look at the top 20 countries with the best education system in the world and take an overview of the global education trends.

Global Education Trends

Data from UNESCO’s Higher Education Global Data report released in 2022 shows that higher education institutions across the globe had over 235 million enrolled students as of 2020. The number is more than double of the 100 million students that were enrolled in higher education institutions across the globe in 2000. Although the global gross enrollment ratio reached 40% in 2022, it remained at 9% in Sub-Saharan Africa. The number of students enrolled in Northern America and Europe accounted for 40% of the global enrollment rates in 2000, falling to 21% in 2020. However, the number of students in the two regions grew by 24% between 2000 and 2020.

In addition, the number of students enrolled in Central and Southern Asia increased by 286% between 2000 and 2020, going from representing 13% of the global enrollment rates in 2000 to 21% in 2020. Estimates also show that around two-thirds of the global enrollment is in public higher education institutions, while the remaining one-third is in public institutes. As of 2021, the highest rate of enrollment in private higher education institutions is in Latin America and the Caribbean, standing at 54%. On the other hand, the lowest is in Oceania at 15%. In addition to enrollment rates, the number of higher education institutions across the globe is also increasing, with a 52% growth rate estimated between 2006 and 2018 in 55 countries.

According to a report by the Education Policy and Data Center on Global Education Trends, secondary school education attainment is expected to become the norm for younger adults in a majority of countries across the globe by 2025, with Sub-Saharan Africa being the only exception. The percentage of tertiary education attainment in adults is anticipated to remain the highest in Eastern European and OECD countries by 2025. Differences in Education Systems Between Countries

According to the Insider Monkey Global Education Index, the United States, the United Kingdom, and China rank among the top countries with the best education in the world. The United States spends 5.44% of its GDP on education, while the United Kingdom and China spend 5.33% and 3.30% of their GDP on education as of 2024, respectively. This amounts to a per capita spending of $4371 for the United States, and $2606 and $414 for the United Kingdom and China, respectively. Germany, Australia, Italy, and Japan trail closely behind. On the other hand, Somalia ranks at the lowest end of the index with no universities on the QS ranking. The country spends 0.27% of its GDP on education. South Sudan, the Central African Republic, and Burundi follow closely behind Somalia on the index.

Companies Increasing Global Education Accessibility

Flexible learning pathways (FLP)  have improved the quality of education across the globe, reducing dropout rates and increasing responsiveness to diverse student needs. According to UNESCO’s Higher Education Global Data report, 55 countries across the 75 reporting data have established a national policy for FLP as of 2022, while 45 have relevant legislations and regulations in place. In addition, remote learning organizations have revolutionized education attainment by offering accessible education-imparting platforms. Some of these platforms include Udemy Inc. (NASDAQ:UDMY) and Coursera, Inc. (NYSE:COUR).

On June 6, Udemy Inc. (NASDAQ:UDMY) announced plans to join hands with Amazon Web Services to launch a generative AI upskilling program. Titled Unlocking GenAI Opportunities with AWS, the program will be offered through the Udemy Business Leadership Academy (UBLA). The six-week cohort learning program will help learners get a grasp on GenAI tools and use them to drive digital transformations within their respective organizations. This is what Greg Brown, President and CEO at Udemy, had to say about the partnership:

“GenAI is revolutionizing industries and transforming the business landscape at an unprecedented pace. The UBLA cohort program, developed in collaboration with AWS, will equip leadership teams with the skills they need to navigate this transformation successfully while fostering innovation, enhancing productivity, and driving revenue growth. We are thrilled to be working in collaboration with AWS to support organizations around the world, helping to drive strategic outcomes and inspire their teams to achieve new heights.”

Another remote learning platform offering accessible education is Coursera Inc. (NYSE:COUR). On June 4, Business Post Nigeria announced the partnership between Coursera Inc. (NYSE:COUR) and the African Leadership University to steer Africa’s education sector. The partnership aims to teach the continent’s future leaders the necessary skills to survive in a digital economy and increase access to education. Here is what Veda Sunassee, CEO of African Leadership University, had to say about the partnership:

“At ALU, our mission is to shape Africa’s future leaders, and partnerships like this with Coursera play a crucial role in addressing the significant challenges facing education in Africa. By expanding access to world-class education and ensuring that students have the necessary skills to solve some of the world’s most pressing challenges, we are not only helping them to thrive but also contributing to Africa’s growth and development.”

The $250 Trillion AI Hype is Real. A few years from now, you’ll probably wish you’d bought this stock.

Dr. Inan Dogan

Dr. Ian Dogan

Co-Founder and Research Director at Insider Monkey

When Jeff Bezos said that one breakthrough technology would shape Amazon’s destiny, even Wall Street’s biggest analysts were caught off guard.

Fast forward a year and Amazon’s new CEO Andy Jassy described generative AI as a “once-in-a-lifetime” technology that is already being used across Amazon to reinvent customer experiences.

At the 8th Future Investment Initiative conference, Elon Musk predicted that by 2040 there would be at least 10 billion humanoid robots, with each priced between $20,000 and $25,000.

Do the math. According to Musk, this technology could be worth $250 trillion by 2040.

Put another way, that’s roughly equal to:

  • 175 Teslas
  • 107 Amazons
  • 140 Metas
  • 84 Googles
  • 65 Microsofts
  • And 55 Nvidias

And here’s the wild part — this $250 trillion wave isn’t tied to one company, but to an entire ecosystem of AI innovators set to reshape the global economy.

It’s a leap so massive, it could reshape how businesses, governments, and consumers operate worldwide.

Even if that $250 trillion figure sounds ambitious, major firms like PwC and McKinsey still see AI unlocking multi-trillion-dollar potential.

How could anything be worth that much?

The answer lies in a breakthrough so powerful it’s redefining how humanity works, learns, and creates.

And this breakthrough has already set off a frenzy among hedge funds and Wall Street’s top investors.

What most investors don’t realize is that one under-owned company holds the key to this $250 trillion revolution.

In fact, Verge argues this company’s supercheap AI technology should concern rivals.

Before I reveal the details, let’s talk about how some of the richest people on the planet are positioning themselves.

  • Bill Gates sees artificial intelligence as the “biggest technological advance in my lifetime,” more transformative than the internet or personal computer, capable of improving healthcare, education, and addressing climate change.
  • Larry Ellison — through Oracle, is spending billions on Nvidia chips and partnering with Cohere to embed generative AI across Oracle’s cloud and apps.
  • Warren Buffett — not known for tech hype — says this breakthrough could have a ‘hugely beneficial social impact.

When billionaires from Silicon Valley to Wall Street line up behind the same idea — you know it’s worth paying attention to.

Even as we admire what Tesla, Nvidia, Alphabet, and Microsoft have built, we believe an even greater opportunity lies elsewhere…

But the real story isn’t Nvidia — it’s a much smaller company quietly improving the critical technology that makes this entire revolution possible.

And judging by what I’m hearing from both Silicon Valley insiders and Wall Street veterans…

This prediction might not be bold at all:

A few years from now, you’ll wish you’d owned this stock.

The best part? You can discover everything about this company and its groundbreaking technology right now.

I’ve compiled everything you need to know about this groundbreaking company in a detailed, members-only report.

Trust me — you’ll want to read this report before putting another dollar into any tech stock.

Wall Street calls this $3 stock a “Melting Ice Cube.” They said the same thing about BTI before it returned 90%.

My name is Inan Dogan. I’m the co-founder and Research Director of Insider Monkey. I have an important message for you today.

Since March 2017, my stock picks have returned 16.5% annually. Today, I’ve found an opportunity even bigger than my British American Tobacco call.

Two years ago, Wall Street wrote off British American Tobacco (BTI) as a “melting ice cube.” The stock had crashed 40% from its peak, and consensus said the business was dying.

We looked under the cover and realized they were wrong.

We alerted our subscribers, and BTI returned 90% in just 16 months.

Now if you had invested just $10,000 in BTI in June 2024, you’d be sitting on $19,000 in October 2025.

Today, we have identified a nearly identical pattern in a digital-first giant trading at $3.

While the market panics over a surface-level revenue decline, our PhD-led research shows management has actually surgically cut $100 million in waste to focus on high-margin growth.

This pattern is a hallmark of our 16.5% annual return track record. The current opportunity offers a 400% upside potential—dwarfing even our 90% BTI return.
