This Company Owes Apple Inc. (AAPL) a Big Thank You

When it comes to the Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) supply chain, there is never a shortage of stories. In fact, the Apple supply chain is something we have talked about in the past (see the details here) and are sure to cover many times over again in the future. It is always good to know what Cupertino is up to regarding its supply chain, as this part of its business has a lot to do with its success.

Jony Ive, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)

Digitimes recently published and interesting story about Pegatron Technology, showing how its revenue growth has increased during the first half of 2013.

Here is a closer look at Pegatron’s numbers for this time period:

“Pegatron Technology has announced consolidated revenues of NT$66.54 billion (US$2.21 billion) for June, down 7.65% on month and 12.44% on year, NT$203.99 billion for the second quarter, down 7.83% sequentially, and NT$452.31 billion for the first half, up 9.9% on year.”

At this point, you may be wondering what this has to do with Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL). Well, if the sources of the Digitimes information are accurate, Pegatron should be sending Cupertino a nice Christmas gift this year.

The article goes on to state that the revenue growth was due in large part to orders of the iPad mini and iPhone 4s.

On top of this, there is something else we need to keep an eye on: the potential for a cheaper Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone hitting the market by the end of 2013.

Although Apple is staying quiet, this rumor is flying around the world and getting consumers and investors excited along the way. Here is how Pegatron fits into the equation:

“The market watchers expect Pegatron to enjoy strong revenue performance starting August thanks to orders for Apple’s new cheap iPhone, new iPad minis and Sony’s PlayStation 4, which is set to start mass production in October.”

If Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) does decide to announce a cheaper iPhone in the second half of 2013, along with the next generation iPad mini, Pegatron, along with many other supply chain providers, will see a nice boost in business.

Although the title of this piece suggests that Pegatron should be thanking Apple, don’t forget to look at things from the other side of the fence. Cupertino should also be thanking Pegatron for its dedication to providing high quality service, regardless of what it takes.
