Tesla Motors Inc (TSLA) Showing Ford Motor Company (F) a Thing or Two

When it comes to automotive innovation, the folks at Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA), led by CEO Elon Musk, know a thing or two about showing the competition who is boss. The company has made major strides in the past couple of years, leaving others, such as Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) envious.

Tesla Motors Inc (TSLA) Showing Ford Motor Company (F) a Thing or TwoThis is not to say that Ford, led by CEO Alan Mulally, is resting and hoping for the best. In fact, this car company has proven a lot of people wrong over the past five years. Ford went through a rough patch, like many automotive manufacturers, but has comeback stronger than ever before.

Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) Knows Technology

Many people think about Tesla and the only thing that comes to mind is good gas mileage. This should not be the case. When it comes to advanced technology, there are not many companies, even Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F), on the same level.

Automotive News recently posted this piece (written by Nick Bunkley): Despite MyFord Touch woes, the move to touch control is gaining momentum

The title says it all: Ford is struggle with gaining traction for its MyFord Touch system. However, this is not slowing down the momentum of touch controls in general.

What does this have to do with Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) you may ask? Well, the article goes on to praise what the electric vehicle maker has done to this point:

“Tesla Motors goes even further with the Model S sedan, consolidating the controls for almost everything, including the headlights and door locks, into a huge, 17-inch touch screen.”

If you have never been inside a Model S, it is hard to understand just how big its touch screen is. Even more importantly, it gives the driver a high level of efficiency while on the road. You can control everything from the headlights to the door locks, and that is just the start.

If Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) wants to stay relevant in terms of touch controls, it could learn a thing or two from Tesla.

Let’s put it this way: touch controls are not going anywhere. If anything, more and more cars are going to rely on this type of technology.

It will be interesting to see what Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) and Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) come up with next.

Although you may not be sold on Tesla, these hedge fund managers seem to be: William Duhamel, Drew Cupps, Eric Bannasch, Ryan Frick, and Philip Hempleman.
