Tesla Motors Inc (TSLA) – What Really Happens?

Despite the fact that Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) has recently been taken down a peg (see what we mean here), things are still looking good for the company as it pushes forward and continues to ramp up production. In the years to come, there is no reason to believe that the electric car maker is going to fall off and be passed up by the competition.

Tesla Motors Inc (TSLA)Like many, you may wonder what goes on behind the scenes of Tesla. How has the company been so successful in such a short period of time? What does the production process entail? Is the company doing anything different than others in the industry?

While these are all questions you may have on your mind, the time for getting some answers has come.

Wired recently took a behind the scenes look at Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA)’s robotic factory.

On the next page you will find a video of the production process, but before we get there let’s take a closer look at what the article had to say:

“The bare body is shipped off for prepping and paint before joining the assembly line under the power of autonomous robots. The gleaming shell is ushered through the line as Tesla’s 3,000 workers work alongside their 160 robotic counterparts to install the battery, motor, interior, and miles of cabling and components that help create the award-winning electric sports sedan.”

That is just a snippet that tells a little piece of a bigger story. There are 3,000 people working on the vehicles manufactured by Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA). That being said, you cannot overlook the importance of the 160 robotic counterparts that are used for everything from battery installation to interior work and much more.

The factory used by Tesla is one that was occupied by Toyota until 2010. After a year of setting things up the right way, the company eventually began to produce its popular Model S in 2012. Here is more from the piece:

“The automaker brings in raw materials by the truckload, including the massive rolls of aluminum that are bent, pressed, and formed to create the car. Those lightweight components are assembled by swarm of red robots in an intricate ballet that is mesmerizing to behold.”

This is an interesting story that should give Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) fans a better idea of how the company manufactures its vehicles (this story is just as interesting).
